Built in ancient China by a mechanical engineer Yan Shi, it was nothing like today's modern technology and comprised of wood, leather, glue and lacquer. It was a human shaped figure that could walk, pose and sing. But Robotics has went enormous changes since then. Precisely combining the elements of mechanical , electrical and electronics engineering, robotics have been one of the most complicated and cool fields of study foe the last decade. With applications ranging from automobiles, military, power generation etc. mechanical engineers have one of the key roles to play in building a robot. Ending worldwide speculation about the futuristic Agni-6 missile, the Defence R&D Organisation (DRDO) has briefed about the direction of India's ballistic missile development programme after the Agni-5 enters service, probably in 2015. DRDO chief Dr VK Saraswat, and missile programme chief Dr Avinash Chander, say the Agni-6 project has not been formally sanctioned. However, the missile's specific ations and capabilities have been decided and development is proceeding apace. Once the ongoing Agni-5 programme concludes flight-testing, the defence ministry (MoD) will formally okay the Agni-6 programme and allocate funding. Chander says the Agni-6 will carry a massive three-tonne warhead, thrice the weight of the one-tonne warhead that Agni missiles have carried so far. This will allow each Agni-6 missile to launch several nuclear warheads -Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Warheads (MIRVs) - with each warhead striking a different target. How did life on earth appear? Science suggests that life started when the planet was favourable for habitation. Yet did microscopic organisms just pop out of nowhere? One hypothesis is panspermia, which suggests that ‘seeds of life’ exist everywhere around the universe, and that life on earth started when these ‘seeds’ came here, probably by a meteor. ClusterBot is assembled and I've written some rudimentary Arduino code to get it up and running. I wrote some simple subroutines for basic maneuvering like rotateLeft(), goForward(), goBackward(), applyBrakes(), turnAround(), etc. to make programming the bot a little easier.  The robot is performing fairly well, with some limitations. First of all, the robot is stupid. No active sensors at this time, ClusterBot will simply go exactly where you tell it, with no obstacle avoidance in place. I had to spend a little time getting ClusterBot to track straight. I've got no physical way to do a front-end alignment on the robot, so I tweaked the goForward() and goBackward() functions by changing the PWM values until the bot tracked relatively straight. It's not crucial that it's perfect with this robot, but when I first ran ClusterBot, he would move in arcs instead of lines.
